Rashed Al Qemzi Triumphs in Norway, Takes Lead in UIM F2 World Championship Title Race
Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al Qemzi delivered a stunning performance to secure victory in the Grand Prix of Norway, propelling him to the forefront of the UIM F2 World Championship title race.
Al Qemzi, the defending champion, showcased his dominance throughout the weekend, culminating in a flawless start-to-finish win. His teammate, Mansoor Al Mansoori, followed closely, ensuring a one-two finish for Team Abu Dhabi.
Starting from pole position, Al Qemzi swiftly established a significant lead over Al Mansoori, with Sweden’s Mathilda Wiberg trailing in third. The race was briefly interrupted by a yellow flag after seven laps, but Al Qemzi maintained his composure and quickly reestablished his lead upon the restart.
Britain’s early championship leader, Matthew Palfreyman, encountered difficulties and had to be towed out of the race, further clearing the path for Al Qemzi. Al Mansoori remained unchallenged in second place, with Wiberg securing the third podium spot.
This victory marks Al Qemzi’s first career win in Norway and is a crucial step toward his goal of becoming the first driver to clinch the F2 world title five times. His previous successes include a third-place finish in Tønsberg in 2017, contributing to his first F2 crown, and multiple victories leading to titles in 2019, 2021, and 2023.
As Team Abu Dhabi gears up for the next round in Klaipėda, Lithuania, from August 16-17, followed by the Italian Grand Prix and a double-header in Portugal in September, they remain focused on maintaining their competitive edge and securing further wins.
