Over 18,000 Submissions Received For New Expo 2020 Dubai Logo Competition
More than 18,000 creative hopefuls have submitted their designs for the Expo 2020 Dubai Logo Design competition, as the once-in-a-lifetime contest drew to a close on 30 April 2015.
The chance to design the new emblem for the iconic mega event captured the imagination of the United Arab Emirates. Entrants to the competition represent all ages, backgrounds and skill sets, from professional designers and design students to the wider public.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State, Board Representative of the Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee and Director General, Bureau Dubai Expo 2020, said the public response to the competition was overwhelming and paid tribute to the communitys desire and commitment to help shape the creative image for Expo 2020 Dubai.
This competition was an opportunity to engage the Nation in building a logo that represents the values, hopes and aspirations that we have for Expo 2020 Dubai and our collective journey towards it. We are delighted at the extraordinary response to the competition and the strong commitment by the Nation to build a truly exceptional and inclusive Expo, said Her Excellency.
Entrants were invited to create a design that reflects the main theme of the event: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. The thousands of submissions will now go through a detailed review process by a panel of design experts. The final logo will be announced on October 20th 2015 the start of the five year countdown to the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai.
The winning designer, in addition to the prestige of seeing their design used as the Official Expo 2020 Dubai emblem, will receive AED 100,000 plus a fantastic trip for four to three previous World Expo cities, and receive a season pass for two for Expo 2020 Dubai, including an invitation to the official opening ceremony.
The Expo 2020 Dubai Logo Design Competition is one part of the multi-faceted For Everyone campaign - a UAE-wide multi-experience community engagement initiative that has been running across the country.
