National Election Committee discusses its work plan to ensure high efficiency in preparation for upcoming elections

The National Election Committee, in its third meeting, discussed its work plan to ensure high efficiency in the preparations for the upcoming elections in the country. The meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, was focused on the efforts to enhance the UAEs leading parliamentary experience to empower citizens to actively participate in the political process.

Apart from its members, the National Election Committee has currently expanded to include H.E. Ahmed bin Shabib Al Zahry Director General of Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works, H.E. Chancellor Ahmed Mohammed Al Khatri Director of Ras Al Khaimah Courts, and H.E. Dr. Fatima Al Shamsi Deputy Director of the University of Paris Sorbonne, three national personalities who have a vital role in the UAE community.

H.E. Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairman of the National Election Committee, said: Expanding the National Election Committees membership will enhance the role of the Committee and enable it to learn more about the needs of the citizens in the next phase of the political participation process.

Empowering citizens to actively participate in parliamentary life is a priority for the UAEs wise leadership. The next Federal National Council election will reflect the unique development of the electoral process in the country and the efforts to strengthen political participation , representing the development plan of the UAE, added H.E. Dr. Anwar Gargash.

H.E. Dr. Anwar Gargash pointed out that the early meetings of the committee is in response to the desire of the political leadership to grant sufficient time to the Committee to study the requirements of the upcoming elections to ensure its success and meet with the needs of the citizens.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Madfa, Secretary-General for the Supreme Council of the Union in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; H.E. Dr. Hadef Bin Jouan Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice; H.E. Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Nasir Al Owais, Minister of Health; H.E. Humaid Mohamed Al Qutami, Minister of Education; and H.E. Dr. Ali Mohammad Al Khouri , Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority.

The meeting also saw the participation of H.E. Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, H.E. Najla Mohammed Al Awar, Secretary General of the U.A.E. Cabinet, H.E. Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, and H.E. Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs in the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
