Majid Al Futtaim launches first premium Carrefour Market in UAE at Jumeirah Park Centre

Majid Al Futtaim, which holds the exclusive rights to operate Carrefour in the UAE, has unveiled its first premium Carrefour Market concept at Jumeirah Park Centre by Dubai Retail, introducing a next-generation supermarket format designed to deliver an enhanced shopping experience tailored to evolving customer preferences.

The new store represents a key milestone in Carrefour's transformation strategy in the UAE and will serve as the prototype for the retailer's future premium supermarket concept. Covering more than 2,200 square metres, the outlet features a food-first layout, increasing the space dedicated to fresh and ready-made food from 25% to 38% of the total selling area.

A standout feature of the new concept is the debut of Carrefour's first BakeHouse Café, offering freshly baked goods, specialty coffee, and casual dining in a neighbourhood-focused setting.

The premium Carrefour Market was officially inaugurated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Ahmed Galal Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Holding; Dries D'Hooghe, Managing Director of Retail UAE at Majid Al Futtaim Retail; Fareed Abdelrahman, Managing Director of Retail Destinations at Dubai Holding Asset Management; and Matthew Smith, Executive Director of Leasing at Dubai Holding Asset Management.

Designed specifically for the Jumeirah Park community, the store offers an expanded Fresh Market, more than 900 new products, including over 300 imported items, and an upgraded Health & Beauty section featuring dedicated K-Beauty zones. Customers will also find an enhanced Pet Care department, a Food-for-Now deli, and a redesigned store layout aimed at improving convenience and overall shopping experience.

The launch forms part of Majid Al Futtaim's broader 2026 growth and transformation strategy for Carrefour in the UAE. The strategy includes continued investment in store modernization, the rollout of premium supermarket concepts, enhancements to the customer experience, and expansion of both Carrefour Market and Carrefour Hypermarket locations across the country.

The company confirmed that the premium Carrefour Market concept will be introduced across multiple UAE locations during 2026, supporting its efforts to redefine modern grocery retail through innovation, convenience, and a stronger focus on fresh food offerings.
