Kimora Lee Simmons makes it a fashion soiree to remember at The Dubai Mall

Graced by the style icon Kimora Lee Simmons herself and Dubais most-sought after fashion personalities, the Fashion Catwalk at The Dubai Mall was transformed into a star-studded soiree on 10 August. The most stylish fashionistas from the citys bustling fashion scene exuded their glamour at the 60-minute style session moderated by Mona Kattan, notable beauty blogger.

The team of stylists consisted of three of Dubais top personalities. In preparation for the highly anticipated event, the stylists set out on a shopping spree to Galeries Lafayette, the forefront of retailing in Dubai, to pick out the entire ensemble of apparel and accessories that their models would flaunt on the ramp on the day of the event, which was presented by Dubai Summer Surprises, as part of the line-up of events and activities for the on-going 17th edition of the annual summer extravaganza.

Showcasing the hottest fashion selections, five sets of models were styled and accessorized by each of the stylists during the event. The Creative Director of KLS, Kimora Lee Simmons gave the models the final touches and offered her expertise in presenting a ravishing line-up of eclectic head-to-toe looks, which included the Abaya, Casual Wear, The Black Dress, Evening Wear and Formal Wear.

The success of the Kimora Lee Simmons in Dubai event has also further enhanced the image of DSS as a complete summer offering that has something to entice every segment of society, whether families looking for a fun summer extravaganza or the fashion-conscious keen on keeping up with the latest fashion trends from around the world. Moreover, with fashion already interwoven as an inseparable thread of the vibrant lifestyle and cultural fabric of Dubai, it is only fitting that a fashion magnate as celebrated and distinguished as Kimora Lee Simmons hosted the event in our city that is already well-known for being the fashion capital of the region, said Suhaila Ghubash, Festival and Events Director, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and organizers of DSS.

After each round, Kimora took to the task of selecting the best look, while offering valuable advice on how to dress for the occasion and dishing out handy tips on how to make varied style choices work for individual personalities, much to the delight of her fashion-conscious fans in the audience. The style mogul also answered questions that came her way in between each session.
The latest creations of designer brands in Galeries Lafayette such as Coco Box, Gerard Darrel, Paul Ka, Poca & Poca, Queen of Spades, Reiss, Sohad Acouri and more, were showcased at the event. Adding a colour to all the glamour, Mac makeup artists revealed the latest trends in makeup on the models, with Jacque La Coupe salon showcasing the hot new looks in hair styling.

Following the event, a 30-minute autograph signing session was organized for DSS and The Dubai Mall VIPs as an opportunity for them to get up close and personal with the beauty maven.
Kimora Lee Simmons is a highly acclaimed fashion designer and lifestyle entrepreneur well-known for being the face of Chanel, her hit docu-reality series Kimora, Life in the Fab Lane, and as the former President and Creative Director of Phat Fashions, comprising the Phat Farm and Baby Phat brands. In 2011, she joined JustFab as President and Creative Director, developing an exclusive collection of shoes and bags for the online subscription-based brand, which is currently the worlds largest online footwear retailer boasting 800,000 members and $500 million in sales volume in its fourth year.

Continuing her legacy in fashion, Simmons is launching a new designer KLS line this fall internationally, with the global ecommerce site launching in October, and plans to bring the luxurious yet versatile collection to the bustling retail sector in Dubai. She also met with top distributors and buyers while in Dubai, offering them a sneak peak of the designer collection of exquisitely crafted, multifunctional statement pieces designed to meet the diverse needs of the modern womans richly faceted lifestyle.

The 17th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises is organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). DSS 2014 commenced on 2 August and will run until 5 September, under the theme, The Fun Side of Summer.
