These events, organized by the World Phygital Community (WPC), spotlight a new era of sports—phygital competition—where athletes master both physical and digital versions of the same sport.
The GOTF Minors concluded on November 30, 2024, serving as a proving ground for teams across various countries. Winners from these tournaments have advanced to the GOTF Majors, which will continue until January 30, 2025. Both stages form the foundation for next year’s highly anticipated Games of the Future.
Highlights from GOTF Minor Finals:
- Belgrade, Serbia: Katarina Kuburović claimed victory in Phygital Dancing with a 2-0 win over Tijana Ivanov.
- Urgench, Uzbekistan: In Phygital Football, Shavat triumphed over Hazorasp in a nail-biting 9-8 final.
- Yaoundé, Cameroon: The Warriors delivered a dominant performance in Phygital Basketball, defeating BBC 21-9.
With over 164 applications submitted by WPC members to host GOTF Majors, these tournaments have already created waves in countries like Uzbekistan, Armenia, Cameroon, Oman, Russia, and Serbia. Oman became the first WPC member to host a compliant GOTF Major, setting a benchmark for upcoming events.
Key Results from GOTF Major Finals:
- Armenia: EREBUNI narrowly defeated WIN 34-30 in Phygital Basketball.
- Oman: JR Style secured an 8-4 victory over Fearless in Phygital Football.
- Russia: Donstu Esports dominated Liga Pro Team with a commanding 20-11 win in Phygital Shooter.
