Will the UAE Witness the Longest Total Solar Eclipse of the Century on August 2?

Not quite — while social media has sparked excitement over an August 2 solar eclipse, the record-breaking total eclipse will actually occur on August 2, 2027, not in 2025. According to Dubai Astronomy Group, this celestial event will be the longest total solar eclipse of the century, lasting over six minutes in the path of totality. In the UAE, however, residents will witness only a partial eclipse, with the moon covering 50 to 57% of the sun depending on the emirate. Dubai will see about 53% coverage, forming a crescent sun at its peak. So, while not total, it’s still a rare and breathtaking sight to prepare for. Have you ever witnessed a solar eclipse before?
