Why did Dubai rename Al Faghi Street as Sheikh Zayed Farm Street, and why is the site historically important?

Authorities say the renaming recognises the major role of Sheikh Zayed Farm in the formation of the UAE, as the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan stayed there for nearly two weeks in March 1971 and held crucial meetings with the rulers of the emirates during the early stages of the Union discussions that later paved the way for the signing of the UAE Constitution and Union Agreement. The decision by the Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Road Naming Committee also reflects wider efforts to preserve national heritage and strengthen awareness of key historical locations, especially after UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan designated Sheikh Zayed Farm as the country’s third official union site alongside Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira.
