Why are UAE schools able to transition so smoothly to remote learning during disruptions?

The UAE’s education system has built strong digital foundations over the years, allowing schools to switch to online learning quickly and efficiently when needed. Authorities like the Knowledge and Human Development Authority have ensured structured implementation, with students continuing regular timetables, attendance tracking and assessments even while learning remotely. A major factor behind this readiness is early investment in initiatives such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme, launched in 2012, which introduced smart classrooms, digital tools and modern teaching methods across schools. Combined with experience gained during the COVID-19 pandemic, educators are now well-equipped to deliver a mix of live lessons, recorded content and independent learning. Schools also emphasise flexibility, supporting students both within the UAE and abroad, while maintaining continuity and wellbeing.
