The UAE Federal Judicial Council has introduced five new regulations under the Personal Status Law to streamline family dispute resolution, protect children, and speed up digital processes in federal courts. The rules cover arbitrators’ roles, family guidance, child visitation rights, affidavits and authentications, and Sharia marriage officers, allowing for electronic contracts and remote procedures. Family counsellors now have greater authority to resolve disputes amicably, with agreements carrying the weight of an executive deed, and children’s psychological and social well-being is prioritised in visitation rules. How important do you think faster, more digital family justice procedures are for protecting children and supporting families in the UAE?
