In the UAE, does the notice period change depending on the reason for termination, such as poor performance, and how is end-of-service gratuity calculated?

Under UAE labour law, the notice period does not change based on the reason for termination as long as it is not for gross misconduct; either the employer or employee may terminate the contract for a legitimate reason by giving written notice of between 30 and 90 days, as agreed in the employment contract, with work continuing during this period. End-of-service gratuity is payable only if the employee has completed at least one year of continuous service and is calculated on the basic salary at 21 days’ wage per year for the first five years and 30 days’ wage for each additional year, while all final dues must be paid within 14 days of contract termination. Do you think the notice period and gratuity rules are fair, or should performance-based terminations be treated differently?
