Dubai tenant signed a 15% rent increase while neighbours in similar apartments saw no hike — can it still be challenged after signing the contract?

According to legal experts, rent increases in Dubai must comply with the Dubai Land Department’s rental index, even if both parties signed the renewal. Tenants are advised to first discuss the matter amicably with the landlord and then verify the increase through the DLD Rental Index. If the increase exceeds the allowed limit, the case can be raised with the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA).
