During the Expo, unique timekeeping installations will serve as landmarks throughout the UAE

The Expo 2020 will open its doors in October next year by dialing the Swiss precision technology of Dubai and fulfilling its timekeeping needs by appointing Swatch as an official time provider to The World's Great Show.

Swatch Partnership with Expo 2020 will provide accurate timelines for the duration of the 173-day event and the countdown installations that will serve as key landmarks in the UAE. These installations are the result of collaborations with world-renowned designers and take technology from Swatch Timing, a subsidiary of Swatch Group, one of the world's leading timekeeping technology developers.

Miniature versions of the installation will be made as part of its signature Expo 2020 watch collection for VIPs and Officers, while specially designed Expo 2020 branded watches will be available at retail stores during the event.

Swatch's presence at Expo 2020 will include retail locations in the Welcome Plaza, as well as every Thematic Districts where visitors can view the collection of collections inspired by Expo 2020's sub-themes - opportunity, mobility and sustainability. The collection includes SwatchSISTEM51 watches that are battery free and powered by the wearer's movement.

The Expo 2020 will be the first World Expo to be held in Dubai, the Middle East, Africa and the South Asia (MEASA) region, serving as a platform for international collaboration, fostering innovation and creating meaningful partnerships that will live beyond 2020 - not just for the UAE, but for the wider region and the world. It will welcome an estimated 25 million visits in 173 days and 200 attendees, including 192 countries. It opens on 20 October 2020 and closes on 10 April 2021.
