ENOC commences pilot project on energy saving solar photovoltaic panels at service stations
Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has started a solar photovoltaic (PV) panel pilot job which aims to minimize carbon emissions and achieve over 50 percent savings in energy consumption at individual filling station. The job will start at ENOC's Dubai Media City filling station on Sheikh Zayed Road, as part of the rebuild scheme for the station.
The project was started by ENOC Retail, the retail business of ENOC, in an effort to use solar power to power the daytime electrical loads as part of ENOC's wider innovation and sustainability strategy. PV panels will be set up on the station's roof and are expected to create about 100 to120KW of power throughout the daytime, which will be around 50 to 60 percent of the station's overall usage.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, ENOC Group CEO, stated: "With the enhancing need for energy, it is essential that we invest in ingenious innovations that promote sustainability and preserve high functional requirements while assisting us deliver on our required to satisfy this demand.".
Burhan Al Hashemi, Managing Director, ENOC Retail, stated: "Our brand-new pilot project on the use of PV panels to power our service stations is another huge step for us in promoting energy efficiency and resource management through the enhancement of environment-friendly products and the use of cleaner and greener energy conserving equipment.".
The pilot project is already 25 percent finished and is anticipated to be commissioned on site by July 2016.
The brand-new PV task will be kept track of and assessed for electrical power effectiveness and decrease over a period of 6 months to measure its expediency and impact on the broader business.
