Emirates NBD Donates Over 5,000 Electronic Devices to Bridge Digital Divide for Underprivileged Students

Emirates NBD, a leading banking group in the MENAT (Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye) region, has announced a significant donation of over 5,000 electronic devices to aid underprivileged students worldwide. This initiative is part of the bank's commitment to sustainability, community development, and supporting people in need.

The donated devices were provided to Ecyclex, a UAE-based company specializing in customized and comprehensive recycling solutions, particularly focusing on electronic waste. Ecyclex, certified by Dubai Chamber, Trakhees, Dubai Municipality, Sharjah Municipality, and Tadweer in Abu Dhabi, plays a pivotal role in the circular economy by refurbishing and recycling electronic equipment.

Once refurbished, the devices will be distributed by The Digital School, a collaborative program between Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and Emirates Red Crescent. The aim is to equip underprivileged students worldwide with the necessary technology to access the internet and educational resources.

Emirates NBD's donation is set to support 8,512 students, reduce 10,868 kilograms of carbon dioxide, and save 3,043.04 cubic feet of landfill space. This effort aligns with the bank’s broader commitment to sustainability, emphasizing the reduction of e-waste and the promotion of eco-friendly practices. As a responsible corporate entity, Emirates NBD remains dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint, conserving resources, and empowering local communities through meaningful partnerships.
