Electoral Culture Virtual Majlis is launched to introduce the UAE Constitution to the Public

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) has declared the launch of the Electoral Culture Virtual Majlis a drive to improve political information in UAE society.

Utilising the most advanced videoconferencing technology, the virtual majlis offers the public to the UAE constitution through a series of exclusive interactive lectures that sees an elite group of legal and constitutional and experts speak to and interact directly with the public.

The first Electoral Culture Virtual Majlis, designed in association with the office of His Highness Ruler of Fujairah, saw wide support from Fujairah government employees. Presented by Dr Ahmed Ali Al-Khuzaimi, member of the Fujairah Council for Education Care and Academic Affairs, the inaugural project included the UAE constitutions adoption, its significance, and its growth over the years to meet the purposes of the UAEs wise leadership and its citizens.

Reflecting on the new venture, MFNCA Undersecretary His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah said: "With the launch of the activities of the Electoral Culture Virtual Majlis, the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs maintains its order of delivering creative initiatives into which it contributes to implementing a combined system of programmes that target all segments of society across all regions of the country.

His Excellency declared that the Ministry was intent on utilising modern technology to reach out to the UAE citizenry, with the latest platforms opening the way for greater communication with the public, thereby permitting it to raise knowledge of how members can participate politically and actively provide to the nations march towards the future.

His Excellency added: The launch of the Electoral Culture Virtual Majlis represents a tangible step towards improving our efforts to involve UAE citizens in the political process. The launch of this virtual majlis is the result of the continuous efforts of the Ministry, which employs innovative strategies aimed at reaching all parts of society and developing within them a culture of political participation.

His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah thanked all the lecturers participating in the virtual majlis and supported them on their enthusiasm to contribute to the development of political life in the UAE. His Excellency also thanked the attendees at the sessions, their numbers evidence of the acceptance within UAE community members of the value of becoming acquainted with the UAE constitution and their support in the comprehensive construction process that the United Arab Emirates is seeing.

Dr Ahmed Ali Al-Khuzaimi said: "The UAE code is a national document that explains the basic rules of political organisation in the country, detailing the legislative, executive and judicial competencies. It also asserts the freedoms, rights and public duties of citizens, and aims to improve the country on the global stage so that it takes its proper place among the worlds leading nations."

He indicated that the UAE law has 152 articles establishing the basis of the UAE and the freedoms of citizens and that it sets out the laws for the federal and legal organisation of the state. He repeated that it states the main idea of the union, its constituents, and its purposes at the local and international levels, as well as explains the basic social and economic pillars of the union, maintaining freedoms, rights, and public duties.

Dr Al-Khuzaymi also revealed that the UAE law has a special nature as a result of the federal form it has adopted, which creates an equilibrium between the federal and local competencies of the emirates that are its members.

He also touched on the federal authorities within the constitution, namely the Federal Supreme Council, the President and his deputy, the Federal Cabinet, the Federal National Council, and the federal judiciary, defining the nature of each authority and its role in building the Federal Constitution.
