DUBAL Extrusion Investment (DEI), a wholly owned subsidiary of DUBAL Holding (DH), has successfully completed the first phase of a rooftop solar power generation project at OSE Industries, a local aluminum extrusion company under DEI. This achievement underscores DEI’s commitment to sustainability and its contribution to the UAE’s renewable energy goals.

The project, executed by Emirates Electrical Engineering LLC, began operations in early July and is located on the rooftops of buildings 1 and 2 at the OSE plant. With a rated capacity of 633 kilowatts peak (kWp), the system is set to generate 1.1 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually. This output is expected to meet up to 12% of OSE Industries' annual electricity needs. Environmentally, the project will help reduce carbon emissions by 440,000 kilograms of CO2 equivalent (Kg CO2e) annually, contributing significantly to sustainable practices.

The clean electricity generated by this project is capable of powering a small town for several days to a week, showcasing the project's substantial environmental impact. Phase II of the project, which will cover the remaining buildings and service areas, is scheduled for completion in 2025.

This initiative aligns with DEI's commitment to the UAE's sustainability efforts, particularly the DEWA SHAMS Dubai Initiative, Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and UAE Net Zero 2050 goals. The project operates under a Solar Lease Agreement, which eliminates upfront costs for OSE Industries and ensures a seamless approach to operation, maintenance, and energy affordability. The supplier is responsible for monitoring system performance, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of spare components.

Preliminary data for July 2024 indicates that the solar system produced 109.5 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity, covering 12% of the monthly demand and reducing carbon emissions by 43,800 kilograms of CO2e.

This rooftop solar power installation highlights DEI’s dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices. As the UAE continues its shift towards renewable energy, DEI is poised to play a key role in supporting this transition and contributing to a sustainable future for the nation.
