Dubai International Program for Writing launches Workshop on Creating Illustrations for Children’s Stories
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation's (MBRF) prestigious Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW) unveiled the "Workshop on Creating Illustrations for Children’s Stories" during the 33rd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF). This initiative underscores DIPW’s dedication to enriching the literary landscape and nurturing budding artists and talents by equipping them with essential skills to enhance their literary endeavors.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, expressed his pleasure in launching the workshop, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce the ‘Workshop on Creating Illustrations for Children’s Stories’ alongside our participation in ADIBF 2024. This initiative aims to provide young talents with the opportunity to foster creativity, aligning with MBRF’s vision to cultivate creative expression among participants. It serves as a conducive platform for talents to enhance their drawing skills and explore innovative methods to illustrate children’s stories, ultimately promoting a reading culture and igniting a passion for literature.”
Commencing on May 20, 2024, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library (MBRL), the workshop spans two months and offers a diverse array of activities and training sessions under the guidance of author and illustrator Fatima Al-Amiri. Participants will access innovative tools and techniques, including contemporary artistic styles and visual effects, enabling them to craft engaging illustrations for children’s literature.
Moreover, the workshop provides a unique opportunity to stay abreast of the latest trends in illustration and design. It aims to equip talents with versatile skills in various illustration methods while fostering creative thinking and imaginative expression. By encouraging participants to explore innovative approaches to illustration design centered on children’s stories, the workshop aims to inspire a new generation of illustrators.
Through this initiative, MBRF underscores its commitment to nurturing creativity among youth and acknowledges their pivotal role in the knowledge ecosystem’s development and dissemination.
In recent years, DIPW has achieved significant milestones across various Arab countries, including Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt. The program remains steadfast in its mission to support and promote emerging Arab talents in children’s writing, both within the UAE and internationally.
