Cannon Artes Breaks Ground on Massive Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant in Qatar
Cannon Artes, an international leader in industrial water treatment solutions, has commenced construction on an advanced wastewater treatment and water reuse facility for a major polyolefin plant in Qatar. Situated within one of the Middle East’s top three petrochemical complexes, this state-of-the-art plant is designed to handle up to 25,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day, with a recovery rate of 780 cubic meters per hour, adhering to a Near-Zero-Liquid-Discharge philosophy. This initiative underscores Cannon Artes’ dedication to sustainability by recovering and reusing 80% of the treated water, exceeding regulatory standards.
Chosen for its expertise in large-scale wastewater treatment, Cannon Artes is constructing a facility that spans the equivalent of three football fields, featuring over 1,600 reverse osmosis membranes, 360 ultrafiltration modules, and 17,000 square meters of active MBR membrane surface. "This project highlights our commitment to environmental standards and water recovery innovation," said Alessio Liati, Cannon Artes' Sales Director.
Part of a $2 billion investment in a new polyethylene plant with an annual production capacity of nearly 2 million tons, this facility employs Cannon Artes' proprietary EmbioArt® Membrane BioReactor (MBR) for treating industrial effluents, with additional ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis systems for cooling tower blowdown water. The facility also features a 600 cubic meter-per-hour remineralization system with calcite filters to adjust pH levels and enhance water quality.
Construction, which began in August 2024, aims for infrastructure completion by early 2025 and full mechanical operations by Q4 2025. Cannon Artes’ proven capabilities in design, assembly, and delivery have earned it a trusted reputation globally, delivering tailored water treatment solutions across diverse sectors in over 80 countries.
Cannon Artes is showcasing its innovations at ADIPEC 2024 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, at Stand 2112 from November 4-7.
