Calling for Sustainability at Expo 2020

Dubai, 18 March 2019: Expo 2020 Dubai stands out from the crowd in its dedicated efforts to deliver one of the most sustainable World Expos ever. The steps towards achieving sustainability have been developed from a strategy, packed with groundbreaking and complex ideas.

It supports not only the Sustainability subtheme upheld by Expo 2020, but also the Dubai Plan 2021, the UAE Vision 2021 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

With this in mind, the organizers of Expo 2020 have been and will continue putting its best foot forward to ensure a sustainable event. The idea of sustainability put forth by Expo 2020 is surely not intended to be forgotten after the six months of Expo, the nation will carry forward its ambitious goal beyond the Expo and will also inspire the whole world to opt for a sustainable form of development by portraying itself as an exemplary model.

The Expo 2020 aims to create positive environmental impacts on a national, regional and global scale, based on four key objectives:

1. To leave a legacy of sustainable infrastructure and cutting-edge Sustainability practices

2. To catalyse Sustainability efforts in Dubai and the UAE

3. To increase public awareness about and engagement with Sustainability principles and sustainable living

4. To develop Sustainability answers that are scalable, extending benefits to the wider economy.
