Bentleys Connected Data Environment Delivers Step Changes in Productivity for Mining Operations
Mining companies often talk using technology to boost efficiency and endure in this industry where margins are razor slim. Two elections this year highlight just how Bentley's detailed modeling environment, managed through a linked data atmosphere, is making it possible for innovation and substantial expense financial savings in this industry.
Minerals are recovered from tailings with squashing, grinding, and flotation. Outotec's latest innovation in minerals processing is an advanced modular flotation cPlant comprised of pre-fabricated components inside container-sized steel structures. Outotec developed the modules to ensure that they are simple to move and install and can be swiftly integrated with an existing plant. This design also enables the flotation cPlant to be transferred from one site when a concentrator plant comes to the end of its lifecycle. Outotec also supplies a huge variety of solutions, including maintenance assistance, which is why it preferred to execute AssetWise Property Reliability to help with preventative maintenance and to minimize unplanned downtime. Outotec offers this service to any type of customers acquiring the flotation cPlant. The upkeep plan covers the whole flotation protection cPlant from production process efficiency to equipment integrity, leveraging failure setting impact evaluation and property criticality recognition. By optimizing reliable production, the maintenance strategy is expected to enhance the plant web production return by 3 to 5 percent.
JSC Kovdor Mining and Processing Plant (GOK) lies in the south-west of Murmansk Region's Kola Peninsula, 20 kilometers from the boundary with Finland, a region with an extreme environment where temperatures could go down to 30 degrees listed below Celsius in the wintertime. The mine is Russia's second largest producer of apatite concentrate and the world's only producer of baddeleyite concentrate. The complete area inhabited by the industrial centers is 2,500 hectares, of which 450 hectares are devoted to open-cast mines, and 85 hectares are inhabited by the homogenization and reloading accumulations of raw materials and ended up products.
Surveying the mine's production and raw materials stockpiles is a vital feature for operational productivity in addition to for safety and security (preventing stock heap falls down). The mine determined to replace a laser scanning procedure, which was labor extensive and not functional for inaccessible locations. In January 2017, GOK began to make use of drones and ContextCapture software to survey the mine. The simplicity of drone procedure and the integrity and mobility of the drones (even in snow storms) allowed GOK to cut the time called for in the field in fifty percent. Furthermore, ContextCapture's capability to immediately generate ready-to-use data boosted the efficiency of the survey operations by 40 percent. Since drones could be used to evaluate previously inaccessible areas, GOK has had the ability to start up production in the eastern part of the mine that had been deemed hard to reach due to an accumulation collapse in 2015. This growth will permit them to establish 155 million tons of ore and generate a revenue of 2.5 billion rubles.
"Having a maintenance framework facilitated with by AssetWise adds to Outotec's goal of continuous improvement, and supports our client's productivity and profitability. By constructing a maintenance plan that makes use of Design for Integrity concepts we anticipate to make best use of reliable production and increase plant internet production yield by around 3 to 5 percent." Niko Vlikangas Manager; Provider, Plant Systems, Projects & Reliability, Outotec.
"The solution of surveying jobs at the venture with the use of Bentley applications enabled us to reach a new level in our operations and considerably minimize labor expenses for keeping an eye on the condition of the quarry sides and estimating the volumes of resources residues in stockpiles." Alexander Ivanovich Vinogradov, Chief Land Surveyor, JSC Kovdorsky GOK.
