Arada awards AED2.18 billion contract to UNEC for construction of Madar Mall at Aljada

Arada has awarded a contract worth AED2.18 billion to United Engineering Construction Company (UNEC) for the construction of Madar Mall, a landmark retail and family entertainment destination within the Aljada megaproject in Sharjah.

The mall, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, will serve as the anchor attraction and final phase of Madar, Aljada’s family entertainment district. Covering a built-up area of 3.9 million square feet and offering 1.1 million square feet of gross leasable area across three levels, Madar Mall is scheduled for completion in December 2028.

The new development will feature over 400 retail outlets and 80 dining options, along with an array of attractions such as an 11-screen cinema, an ice rink, a flagship fitness centre, a public square with signature dancing fountains, and a central observation tower topped by a restaurant.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said:
“Madar Mall is a transformational new destination for Sharjah and the wider UAE. With its exceptional design, attractions and family experience, this project will set a new benchmark for integrated leisure and lifestyle. It is not only a place to shop and dine, but also a hub for culture, recreation and social connection. This is the largest single contract we have ever awarded, and we are pleased to partner with UNEC to bring this vision to life.”

Eng. Abdulhalim Muwahid, Chairman of UNEC, added:
“We are proud to have been chosen to deliver such a landmark project in partnership with Arada. Madar Mall is set to redefine the shopping and leisure landscape in the UAE, and we look forward to ensuring it becomes a world-class destination.”

Once complete, Madar Mall is expected to attract up to 20 million visitors annually, enhancing Aljada’s status as the UAE’s fastest-growing mixed-use community. The wider Aljada development already houses 20,000 residents and will eventually feature over 25,000 homes alongside retail, hospitality, education, sports, and commercial spaces.

With direct connectivity to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Dhaid Road, Sharjah International Airport, and the upcoming Etihad Rail station, Aljada continues to play a key role in reshaping Sharjah’s urban landscape.
