ADIHEX presents the Latest Developments in Falconry
For more than thousand years, falconry has been practiced in various parts of the world. Its methods and techniques have been carried the same way until relatively recently, but the development of technology has extended to enhancing the practice of authentic ancestral heritage, as some developments in falconry have facilitated many things for falconers, most importantly, have helped to enhance the safety and wellbeing of the birds used in falconry and reduced the chance of losing them.
For sure, all of this does not negate the main role of falconer, who should continue to practice and train his bird and maintain his optimal weight, while the need for more accurate speed measures and more advanced techniques has emerged to compete and win the first places in Falconry competitions, which also witnessed a remarkable development, and their number increased.
Visitors of all nationalities and age groups, and in particular tens of thousands of falconers from the region and all over the world, are addicted to attending the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) and participating in its activities every following year. They come to explore the latest falconry equipment and innovations in an environment where heritage meets the latest technologies that have been developed to serve the falconers.
The 18th edition of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition ADIHEX 2021 will be organized by the Emirates Falconers Club from September 27 to October 3, 2021, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), under the theme 'Sustainability and Heritage A Reborn Aspiration', under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club.
Regional and international companies showcasing the latest technologies related to falconry and its ancient and modern necessities will participate in ADIHEX, in addition to companies interested in birds health, treatments and medicines, as well as clubs and organizations specialized in falcon breeding, raising, and training.
All falconers now use the remote tracking devices, which are considered among the most important recent developments in falconry and plays a great role in the recovery of birds when they get lost. Such devices help the falconer locate birds when hunting for preys over vast areas where the falcon can vanish from the falconers view in seconds.
Also, training falcons with kites, drones, wingbeat and houbara birds models - the favourite prey of falconers - such as Telwah, is a very efficient way to train falcons to fly to great heights.
Aylmeri jesses, which, despite their simplicity, have saved countless falcons from the clutches of a slow death is one among the most useful developments in the world of falconry. These ties are free of the cracks found in traditional ties which reduces the risk of the bird getting attached to anything that might hinder it during its flight.
Tartan (artificial grass) has been another blessing for falconers. Modern dens covered with tartans have saved the feet of many falcons, and dens that can be cleaned and disinfected easily have greatly reduced injuries to the feet of falcons.
The falconry sector, which includes the manufacturing and designing of falconry equipment, highlights the latest technologies and innovations that help falconers train their birds for hunting and competitions.
This most prominent sector, which fans wait for eagerly yearly since the first edition of ADIHEX in 2003, adds great importance to the upcoming edition of the exhibition, additionally, it has become one of the major attractions for all attendees and a key factor over subsequent editions throughout the years.
Exhibitors in this sector were able to rise up their sales by meeting VIPs interested in the sports of falconry, industry leaders, and marketing experts, as well as signing deals and building partnerships with some of the most prominent local agents and dealers to market their products from falcon farms and various traditional falconry equipment and modern technologies.
It is noteworthy that the Higher Organizing committee has recently launched the Best Invention in Falconry and Hunting competition with the aim of motivating individuals and owners of falconry companies and manufactures of hunting equipment to present new ideas and inventions that contribute to serving the world of hunting, falconry, and falcon training.
It promotes inventors to present their innovations for the benefit of falconers and hunting enthusiasts in a way that also contributes to exchange knowledge and experiences and strengthen the relations between local and international companies. All this contributes to the efforts of preserving the sport of falconry and passing the sports of our fathers and forefathers onto future generations.
