Why has Sharjah temporarily closed Al Hamriya Beach following the Umm Al Quwain oil spill?

D Day of Dubai Asked 1 hour, 2 minutes ago

Sharjah Municipality has temporarily closed Al Hamriya Beach as a precaution after an oil spill was reported off Umm Al Quwain, which authorities identified as the source of the fuel-like odour reported across several emirates. Specialised teams are taking measures to protect beachgoers and prevent marine pollution. Authorities have urged fishermen and other sea-goers to follow official safety instructions. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has temporarily closed all beaches and coastal areas in Umm Al Quwain while teams assess the situation and determine the necessary safety and marine protection measures. Containment, cordoning, cleanup and remediation operations began after the spill was detected. The ministry has also reassured residents that the reported odours pose no health risk.
