Is UAE Flag Day on November 3, 2026, a public holiday, and will schools close?

No. UAE Flag Day is not an official public holiday, so schools and workplaces are expected to operate as usual on Tuesday, November 3. The annual occasion will be marked with flag-raising ceremonies, traditionally held at 11am, across schools, government institutions and communities. Schools may organise special assemblies, sing the national anthem and hold classroom activities explaining the history and significance of the UAE flag and its four colours; red, green, white and black. The celebrations aim to promote national pride, unity and a sense of belonging among students. Parents are advised to check with their children's schools for specific activity schedules.
