Sharjah has announced a Dh750-million road infrastructure programme designed to improve connectivity with Dubai, reduce congestion, and create faster commuting options between the two emirates. The flagship project is the Al Taawun Tunnel, an underground dual-carriageway beneath Al Taawun that will connect directly toward Dubai through Al Nahda Bridge, easing pressure on surface roads and busy intersections. Alongside this, Noor Road will extend from Al Orooba Street into Dubai and is expected to open by the end of 2026, creating another direct route for commuters. The wider plan also includes stronger connections to Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, making access easier across the UAE and improving links to Expo Centre Sharjah through clearer directional signage. The goal is not only to reduce travel times but also to support smoother movement between residential, commercial, and event destinations.
