After your employer cancels your work permit and residence visa through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, you can usually stay in the UAE during the grace period stated on your visa cancellation record (commonly ranging from about 30 to 180 days depending on visa category), during which you must either exit the country or change your status; if you secure a new job, your new employer can apply for a fresh work permit and residency while you are still inside the UAE, or you may convert to a visit/tourist visa through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai before the grace period ends, otherwise overstay fines apply — do you think the current grace period is enough time for jobseekers to find new work in the UAE?
