Could UAE residents soon own flying cars that can be driven on roads and flown in the air?
Chinese company Aridge is preparing to introduce its Land Aircraft Carrier, a flying car combining a six-wheeled road vehicle with a detachable two-seat electric aircraft. Owners can drive it to designated flying areas and deploy the aircraft through a one-touch automated mechanism. After landing, the aircraft can reconnect with the vehicle in around four to five minutes. The company has received approximately 7,000 global pre-orders, including around 600 from the GCC. However, ownership will not mean unrestricted flying. The aircraft must first secure certification from China's aviation authority and validation from the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), while local rules on pilot licences and permitted flight locations are still being developed.
Would you consider owning a flying car in the UAE?
