Can UAE residents still travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah despite recent disruptions?
Yes, UAE travel operators say Umrah trips are continuing as planned, with Jeddah and Madinah being used as the main gateways for pilgrims. Flight packages using Saudia and flydubai start from around Dh2,700 and typically include visas, flights, accommodation, meals, local transport and ziyarat, with trips lasting around four to five days. For budget-conscious travellers, bus packages start from Dh1,100, with departures from Sharjah and passenger collection in Abu Dhabi before crossing into Saudi Arabia through the Al Ghuwaifat–Al Batha border. The road journey takes around 36 hours each way, with packages generally lasting 10 days. Operators say scheduled groups are continuing, although new bookings have slowed amid recent disruptions.
