Dubai's water sports season is in full swing and this race is your first chance to see the craft which perhaps best symbolises the city's combination of heritage and modernity - wooden powerboats. The wooden powerboat racing event's first round will place a number of local sportsmen against each other on the open water. Organisers expect around 15 craft to take part in the three-round event, where the boats compete along Al Sufouh Beach, between the Palm Jumeirah crescent and the Burj Al Arab.
