'The Captain's Daughter' as an Example of Colonial Prose
Literature enthusiasts and history buffs in Dubai will have the opportunity to explore the works of Russian novelist Alexander Pushkin and Scottish writer-historian Walter Scott at a special lecture titled 'The Captain's Daughter' as an Example of Colonial Prose. The event will take place on 19 December at the Theatre of Digital Arts.
The lecture will be presented by political scientist and publicist Ekaterina Schulmann, known for her ability to explain complex political and historical issues with clarity and wit, alongside journalist, media manager, and radio host Maxim Kurnikov. Together, they will provide attendees with insights into the political, artistic, and historical contexts of Pushkin’s and Scott’s works, offering a fresh perspective on classic literature.
Doors open one hour before the start of the lecture at 8:00 PM. Tickets are available in six categories, ranging from AED 390 for Bronze seating to AED 990 for VIP access, allowing attendees to choose from a range of experiences.
The lecture is expected to attract students, academics, and literature enthusiasts keen to deepen their understanding of colonial-era narratives and their significance in historical and literary studies.
