Sing for the Nation by UAE National Orchestra

A special evening celebrating the United Arab Emirates’ cultural identity through music is set to take place at Dubai Opera on May 8, as the Sing for the Nation concert brings together a powerful repertoire of iconic Emirati songs spanning from the 1970s to the present day. Presented by the UAE National Orchestra, the concert will showcase a curated selection of patriotic and heritage-inspired compositions that have played a significant role in shaping the country’s collective memory and national identity. The programme includes well-known pieces such as Dar Zayed, which reflects themes of belonging and unity, alongside We Will Protect the Union, a patriotic anthem symbolising national strength and solidarity. Another highlight, Zanaha Zayed, narrates the transformation and development of the UAE over the decades. The concert will also feature Rijal Wallah Rijal, written by Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Hisn Al Watan by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. These works highlight the intersection of leadership, poetry, and music in expressing the nation’s values. Bringing together compositions by leading poets and musicians, the event aims to offer audiences an immersive cultural experience that reflects the UAE’s heritage, achievements, and aspirations. The concert is expected to draw residents and visitors seeking a deeper connection to the country’s artistic and national narrative. With its focus on unity, pride, and shared identity, Sing for the Nation underscores the role of music as a powerful medium for storytelling and cultural preservation in the UAE.
