Dubai is set to host a major theatrical event as legendary Russian actress Liya Akhedzhakova brings the critically acclaimed play Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead to Zabeel Theatre on January 14. The production is a mystical detective drama infused with sharp satire, exploring themes of human fragility, morality and resistance to injustice. Akhedzhakova stars as Mrs. Duszejko, an eccentric retired schoolteacher living in a remote Polish village who embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind a series of mysterious murders, while also fighting to protect her friends and challenge cruelty in her community. Set against an evocative backdrop, the play blends drama with live music, poetic visuals and symbolic forest imagery. The atmosphere is further enhanced by songs performed by actress and singer Musya Totibadze, based on the poetry of William Blake, adding a lyrical and emotional depth to the performance.
