Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre from November 10 20 in Al Mamzar
The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) will host its flagship performing arts initiative, the Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre (DFYT), from November 10 to 20, 2014, at the Cultural & Scientific Association in Al Mamzar, Dubai.
DFYT is one of the largest celebrations of theatre in the region providing both established and upcoming talent a platform to showcase their skills to a wider audience. The festival will focus on empowering the Classical Arabic language in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
This years festival will present several leading Arab actors and celebrities and will also feature a majlis-style discussion session after each performance, as well as special activities including workshops and improv plays, giving guests an opportunity to interact with them. The festival is also open to young theatre enthusiasts who want to showcase their skill or learn more about writing, directing and producing plays from the experts in the industry.
The line-up of plays includes Koam Motran by Al Ahli Theatre in Dubai (written by Abdullah Salah Al Romaithi; directed by Marwa Abdullah Saleh); Ala Alhawaya by Dubai Folklore Theatre (written by Abdullah Salah Al Romaithi; directed by Hussein Jawad); Bouqa by Dibba Theatre (written by Ahmed Al Majd; directed by Mortada Jomaa); Al Nogza Wal Tabal by Hatta Culture & Arts Association Theatre (written by Hassan Youssef), and Khozo Wogohakom by Sharjah National Theatre (written by Mahmoud Abu Al Aas).
