Dubai Opera will host a captivating performance of Carmina Burana from May 23 to 24, presented by the Maribor Ballet of the Slovene National Theatre. This modern reinterpretation of Carl Orff’s iconic masterpiece is choreographed by Edward Clug and promises a dynamic blend of movement and storytelling.
The production features the powerful Latin Goliardic poem O Fortuna, known for its intense and dramatic musical expression. The Maribor Ballet, renowned for its versatile repertoire spanning classical, neoclassical, and contemporary dance, explores themes of fate, love, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
Carmina Burana draws inspiration from a medieval collection of poems discovered in the Bavarian monastery of Benediktbeuern. These poems highlight the cyclical nature of life and fortune, offering timeless reflections through both music and narrative.
Beyond the performance, Carl Orff’s work influenced music education globally by combining melodies, movement, and speech into a holistic learning method that remains relevant today.
