Women can dream freely: Sheikha Latifa highlights UAE’s cultural and creative journey
The UAE’s story of progress is not only defined by its modern skyline and global ambition, but also by its deep-rooted culture and heritage, according to Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Sheikha Latifa emphasized how women remain central to this narrative, playing a pivotal role in shaping and carrying forward the country’s creative identity.
For decades, Dubai has fascinated the world with its innovation and bold vision, but Sheikha Latifa highlighted that the emirate’s real strength lies in its cultural foundation. “Every day, I see young Emirati women standing at the forefront of this story, carrying the depth of our heritage while speaking to the world with confidence and creativity,” Sheikha Latifa said. “Whether through design, literature, film, or digital innovation, they are not only sharing their lived experiences but also shaping how we see ourselves and how the world sees us.”
She underlined that the progress made by Emirati women has never been symbolic. Instead, their role has been foundational, driving cultural expression and ensuring that the UAE’s authentic stories are told in ways that resonate globally.
Reflecting on her journey, Sheikha Latifa noted that her work is not about individual accomplishment but about fostering collective growth. “I have had the privilege of helping to foster this growth, not as an individual achievement but as part of a shared journey to position Dubai as a place where creativity thrives, heritage is celebrated, and our real stories are told in ways that connect with the world,” she added.
