A Cloudflare outage disrupted operations across multiple offices in the UAE on Friday, causing websites and content management systems to fail. The incident began around 6:30 a.m. ET and affected businesses reliant on the web-infrastructure provider.
Cloudflare issued an advisory at 8:56 UTC, stating: “Cloudflare is investigating issues with Cloudflare Dashboard and related APIs. Customers using the Dashboard / Cloudflare APIs are impacted as requests might fail and/or errors may be displayed.”
The outage was reportedly triggered by an automatically generated configuration file, designed to manage potential security threats. The incident echoes a similar disruption in November 2023, when thousands of users were unable to access major internet platforms, including X and ChatGPT.
Cloudflare confirmed that their team is actively investigating and working to restore full service to affected users.
